i have always firmly believed that kids are anything but innocent. they dont know all the ways of the world, but they know how to get what they want. and once they know what they want, they start manipulating you like nobody's business! :p
Kabir has now become verry naughty and shaana! you can see it in his eyes that he understand thing so much better now. i think i actually see two stubs of horns starting to grow on the l'il devil's head! :)
but its so much more fun also, now that he reacts so much to everything. its the ultimate stress buster to see him come run to you with a big smile when you get back from work! the way he comes and waddles at our feet asking us to pick him and trying to jump off the very next minute. he reacts to his toys which make sound and move together. he tries to find out what exactly is the point of that toy! hehe!
touchwood! kabir LOVES people. there now are stray incidents of him crying looking at strange people (only men!), but more often than not he makes friends easily and quickly. he loves being surrounded by lots of people playing with him and fawning over him. even now he likes kids more and responds to them way better than he does to adults! ofcos grown ups with child like qualities are ADORED! :)
just this weekend one of our younger cousins came to stay with us and what a riot both of them were. i could see and hear constant masti and laughter. He hardly cried and played in every moment he was awake which is quite some these days! :) god bless, Mansi!
it's good to see him have so much fun with fairly new people and have them hooked on to him for good! :D

dolby dreams! :)
we went to watch a movie yesterday. with kabir in tow! the movie was race and it was last show at 10pm at a close by multiplex! we did our n kabir's khaana fatafat. we reached a l'il after 10 and missed about 10mins of it which wasnt a big deal!
we were obviously worried about how Kabir would react to the loud noises and bright screen. the last time we went to watch welcome he was getting quite scared and bawled everytime there was a song or the volume suddenly went up! of course even then he didnt want to miss any of the action and kept craning his neck with tears in his eyes! :)
This time he seemed a lot more comfortable. he was little queasy to start with, but soon fell into the groove. he wouldnt allow me to cover his ears! by interval he was fast asleep. looks like he is too yound to fall for seductive charms of 3 bimbettes in the movie in the form of Bipasha Basu, Katrina kaif and Sameera Reddy.
His daddy of course was enmaoured and paid undivided attention to the scintillating skin know! :p
by interval Kabir was fast asleep in the whole dolby stereo sound! katrina singing zara zara touch me, or tyres screeching on asphalt had no effect on my l'il kumbhakarn's sleep. mayunk was wondering if he is deaf or something! but then we saw few other kids of his age peacefully sleeping in their parents godi while they enjoyed the movie!
so its ok i guess! hehe!
so all in all watching the movie was a breeze and we didnt have to step out even once!
of course all was not peaceful once we got back home! he was wide awake and then had a very disturbed night and kept us up till good 4am! dont know if he was disturbed because of the movie or he was hungry! i mean dont we feel hungry again if we stay up late inspite of having the usual dinner?!
i had heard so many stories about not entering a movie theatre for 2 years after the baby happens n all that jazz! no restaurants either!
thanks to Kabir, our social life still is pretty much the same and he is a part of it too! :)

under the over!
Kabir with his new found mobility (he has been creeping commando style for over a month now) can be found in just about any corner of the house now. it happens so many times that i have gone to the kitchen for a few minutes, when i come out i have to look for him! :) he will find some odd corner where he would be playing with whatever he finds.
today i came out with his food and he was no where to be seen. just as i was thinking aloud i two little feet moving fast UNDER our bed! he was halfway through when i grabbed and pulled him out. next hubby made sure that the maid cleans that area thoroughly 'coz this defi isnt the last time we are going to find him there! hehe!
today Kabir also managed to make our steel aata dabba go horizontal on the floor and rolled it all over the kitchen! :) it's so much fun to see him do new things everyday!
he is trying hard to crawl now. he manages to get on his fours and go back and forth like a rocking horse. this trailer is being seen for lotsa days and hope to see the actual movie soon! :)

carry on Doctor! :)
of course the naughty double entendre Carry On series has no place in this baby blog! this title is just to talk about kabir's doctor! a good pediatrician is really important, not just for your precious angel's good health but also your peace of mind.
Kabir's doctor in Bangalore was reccoed by his doctor in Mumbai. Apart from being close to home (very important) he is a really sensible man. he tells you things in a very matter of fact way with clarity and empathy. Imagine first time parents being stuck with a paranoid doctor who gives loads of instructions, fusses too much and makes you go crazy over little change or deviation in your baby's growth! anywayz we tend to be a tad anxious if all is going well with the baby and along comes a doc who doesnt make it any easier.
always take effort to get a good doctor. first hand references generally work out better. if you dont feel comfortable look for another one. if in doubt, take a second opinion. afterall its our baby we are talking about. big hospitals dont always mean good doctors. so dont go on appearances.
i dont do this, but i think its a great thing to make a list of questions you have when you go and meet the doctor. it happens to us so often that we come out of the consultation and realise we forgot to ask something! also, dont worry about asking even your smallest of worries. it might or might not be an indicator of something more serious or that can be avoided completely just by detection. even if its some grandma's remedy that you are using, tell the doctor. most docs themselves know about and believe in them and will tell you its ok!
apart from that, dont fret too much! kids do keep falling ill and a common cold and upset tummy would be standard features. Kabir's doc addresses most of these kind of queries on phone itself and we go and see him only if prescribed medicine hasnt worked in said days. slowly we are learning to understand his minor health issues and manage to take care of it at.
as for Kabir's todays check up... he is doing just fine! :)

baby olympics! :D
we as humans just cant stop being competitive! and we dont even leave our little babies out of it. babycenter.com which is the website we registered on sends is weekly updates. it was in last weeks updates that i read the term "Baby Olympics". now all mother are even more enthu in knowing if their baby is doing better than the others. mine has started standing, what does yours do! look at those cute teeth, tumhaare abhi tak nahi aaye?" "how come he also isnt walking, he is older by six days naah?" aarrrgghh!
all babies move and reach their milestones at their own pace. as long as your baby is making movement of some kind and the doc says he is doing good, please dont take on forced heartburn. i have heard of friends whose first kid rolled over at only 8 months and the younger one is moving on his side at one month! and the first one is doing just fine now! :) you think when he / she is giving interview to beome VP of some company or even trying to get their first job they will ask when did you start walking? or talking? :)
so do not fret about how fast the other kid is doing things or dont boast if your kid is faster. as proud parents we can hardly avoid talking about what our l'il star's latest performance is. and sharing your baby's milestones is fun as long as you dont get into the comparision act! :)
today Kabir turned 8months and as cliched as it sounds time indeed flies!! :)
(will talk about his milestones soon!! hehe!)
happy birthdate my sweetheart!
may you grow stronger... mind and body and have even happier times ahead!

Humpty Bumpty had a great fall!!
Bumpy had his pet name come even truer today when he decided to explore the floor right from the edge of the bed! Yup! he fell headlong and with a bang! i had gone away for a minute attempting to barricade with many pillows and gol takiyas! But Kabir Jain decides to push away the softest pillow and jump down.
of course i was scared stiff!! he bawled his heart out for a few minutes and then thankfully got distracted by other things. he seemed all ok and was gurgling and hollering like his usual self soon enough. :) gave him homeopathic dawaai called Arnica Mont at hubby's behest!
we have started sleeping on the floor in any case. its not just fear of him falling, but even a 6 x 6 bed seems small when you have a twisting and turning baby between you. after a nights sleep it still feels like you have gotten off the wrong side of the bed!
and he really MOVES in his sleep now! i dont remember the last time i saw him sleeping straight on his back! he mostly sleeps sideways or on tummy with his hands a legs curled or stretched at weird angles. he still wakes up with a smile and it sunshine raised to N when he does that! :)
now no leaving him alone even for a minute on the bed! i dont think theres any kid including us who has grown up without doing the falling thing! :)
soon you will be able to judge the distance and know what can hurt you my sweets! :)

loooonng hiatus!
logged in here after ages and realised its been two months since my last post! i keep telling myself i will be more regular but somehow it just never happens! But this time i hope to keep my own promise! :)
in two months Kabir has become cutest baby around. i know all babies are, par apna baccha... hehe! i am terribly proud and so so happy to have him! he is an absolute sweetheart and his smile is to die for! will put up pictures soon! when i look at him now, i wonder how on the earth did we find this newly born expressionless pink ball of flesh of all things, cute??!! :) since he has turned four months (is almost 8 months now) every day with him has been a revelation! a new sound, a new expression, his smiles of recognition and his laugh with gurgling sounds... all of it is just sheer magic.
when i reach home after day's work (hard or otherwise), his welcome smile makes the world look like the most perfect place to be in! :)
may god bless him with every happiness and success. amen! :)
