am back after a loooong hiatus! well am back in office which means internet access without having to beg hubby for his laptop @ home!
i know! i know! you are wondering what kind of a mother IS she?? she hasnt mentioned seperation pangs at all and is harping on about getting 8hrs of non-stop internet access!
well! ofcourse i AM worried! i am scared and anxious! i have always said that sitting at home isnt an option for me, not because i have a great career going, but simply because i enjoy my time out in the sun (even if its seen only from office window) and that little money i earn makes me feel a lot better! :)
today is day one and daddy o has sweetly agreed to work from home to make sure i am not in tears and feeling miserable! :D i am sure its a matter of time when i will get comfortable with the idea of leaving our 5month old Kabir with his favourite Rajamma. everytime i worry too much, i look back on my childhood! my mom was always working and my brother and me turned out just fine! or so i would like to believe! so CubbyR (his daddy's creation) will do super too!
amen!
on the other hand i feel oddly misplaced in my office! the fact that my place and system has been given away doesnt make it easier! i feel as if its my day one in new work place! soon i will get back into the familar groove and it will be asif i had never gone away!
so whoever is reading this... just say a little prayer for us! :)

the ultimate "booby" trap!
If there was and is one thing that kept putting me off this whole motherhood thing every now and then is breastfeeding! so here i am just putting across some breastfeeding travails etc!
Breastfeeding is best for your baby for sure! But...
1) Breastfeeding DOES NOT come naturally to all women. it can take you anywhere between 1 day to 2 months to actually get the hang of it.
2) Please understand that sometimes your supply may be low or you arent able to breastfeed properly and you will HAVE to depend on supplements. DO NOT feel guilty about it. You ARE doing your best for your own child! :)
3) You might have thought that you have perfect boobs with those perfect nipples. Trust your child to shatter that myth! At times when the baby is not able to latch on chances are you have what they call "flat nipples". In such cases the contraption called "nipple sheild" available at all chemists is a godsend. It not only helps you feed your baby, but also elongates your nipples over a period of time for you to be able to do without one.
4) Nipple sheilds also take time time to get used to and to get rid of! So dont worry too much if it takes you maybe as much as 4 weeks too! The point is you can feed your baby.
5) Sadly there is no Boob-O-Meter to tell you if your baby has got enough from breast and if he needs supplements. Its something we all learn from experience. If your baby isnt crying post feed and seems to be satisfied you are doing fine! just in case he/she starts crying immediately after feed or say after jus 30-45mins it means they havent got enough and need some more! :)
6) Do NOT breastfeed forever because babies dont have the strength to suckle for say a total of 20-25mins during one feed. So chances are that if you are feeding for like 45mins, you are just breaking your back in vain!
7) If you are not sure whether your baby is being under fed, make sure you keep checking their weight say every 2 weeks. Ideally the baby should gain 25gms-30gms per day. If its not then consult your kiddos doc! :)
i went through horrible first month where i could not breastfeed comfortably and then had to keep giving supplement. no one tells you its normal and that its ok! even today my baby is on a combination of breast milk and supplement and i dont feel guilty about it anymore. you cannot, afterall, leave your child hungry because someone told you, you HAVE to breastfeed! so just relax and breastfeed as much as you can and for the rest comfortably use the supplement reccoed! :)
more stories later!! :)

baby blues and it aint just a boy thing...this blue! :p
well last post might have seemed like an anti climax of some sort! :p
with a c section i wasnt allowed to get up and especially raise my head at all. i could see Bumpy but not too properly since i couldnt hold him for two whole days. the pain wasnt too bad and i seemed to manage fine. day 3 the teaty eyed new mom finally held the baby and it felt wonderful!! :)
day 4 we were home to a warm welcome and cosy room and bed! my stitches were still hurting a l'il bit but i was moving around and lot more comfortable than me or anyone else might have expected! beauty of modern medicine i guess.
since i couldnt get up, even feeding Bumpy was out of question initially! and after that started the great war of breastfeeding. i thought i was incapable of feeling low and being depressed, but now i think postpartum depression is simply unavoidable. i mean here you are holding the child you have been waiting for since what seems like eternity, but you are shedding buckets of tears for no reason. i started thinking i dont love him and stated feeling even worse! i just didnt want to be around him for too long! and then my sweetheart hubby started talking to other women pals who had been there and done that and they all vouched for the fact that it just happens and goes away too! and today i can say it! so dont feel guilty if you feel like the throwing the child away as long as you dont actually do it! :p
it took me almost a month to feel maternal and there are still times when i feel very detached! but now i am sure its just a matter of time! :)
bumpy is an adorable kid! touchwood! though right now he doesnt do much other than pee and poo and bawl, we all wait for that elusive half smile that we get to see when he is sleeping! we go awwww when he has a 5 min long stretching session before he wakes up. talk to him and feel kicked even if he does one Hmmmm in half an hour long conversation!
life has definitely changed! more of the travails sooooon!!
Bumpy you are one helluva special kid! love ya!

THE arrival! :)
Doc got bored of waiting!! hehe!! he said come get admitted and we will induce labour! we wanted another date, but doc looked at his convenience and said nahi ussi din karennge!!
so i got admitted on thursday, 19th July 2007 and i didnt get a proper n cool A/C room leaving me sweating it out in a shared dorm. I could hardly sleep anyway! i was sitting and reading and nurses kept coming and going, giving me some medics or other, checking my BP etc. Finally she called me saying doc will induce labour at like 3.30am. everyone told me that being first pregnancy and all that my labour wont start for 6-7hrs least. i was like okie. but by 530am i was already feeling contractions and bleeding all over the place! i was howling in pain. i called my husband hollering at him and telling them to come to hospital rightaway and what the hell were they doing!
by 7am i was almost completely dialated and doc said theres no time to call for epidural as well and that i should be able tod eliver normally within an hours time! i was like Ok whatever! just get it out!! :p
by 730 Bumpys heartrate started dropping as doctors were guiding me to push with my contractions. but the heartrate was a matter of concern and doc said we would have to do a C Section. and soon i was getting anaesthesia while feeling the contractions driving me crazy!
by 8, rather 7.58am to be precise, my Bumpy was BORN! :) they cleaned him up and held him up saying its a BOY! i just looked and then fell into drugged stupor!
uske baad kya hua... watch this space!! :D

soon now!! :D
ok! this ones is dedicated to Just like that for being around ALL the time through my pregnancy!! thanx girl! :)
well i am getting admitted tomorrow! the head i still too high and facing wrong way! doc has asked me to get admitted by tomorrow evening! and then on friday or saturday, the doc will induce labour and we will know if its gonna be a normal delivery or a c section!
eitherways hoping for a safe delivery and healthy baby!
i dont know what i am feeling right now! its such a weird a vague mix of excitment, a l'il bit of fear, sense of responsibility and some emotions that i cannot even describe right now!
Bumpy sweety now its actually a matter of couple of days!! hope you are equally excited too!!
love ya!

ghoom barabar ghoom O Bumpy!
with every additional day Bumpy seems to delay THE arrival i am just adding to the posts here! i think i will have a full fledged novel if we keep moving at this rate! hehe!
anyway! the last Doc visit had everything normal other than your Bumpy head (not brains, sweety) which still is kinda high! So off we went to the sonologist to get a scan done. He said its just that Bumpy is facing the wrong way and if he/she manages to turn in a few days time, i should be able to have a happy n safe normal delivery!
tomorrow i see the doc again and then he will let us know what needs to be done.
so ghoom a l'il baby Bumpy so that you too can see us soon!!
love ya!

working on the impatience bit!! :)
well! after that borrring day long stay at the hospital, i realised Bumpy is gonna get there when he/she wants to! and me getting worked up about it isnt going to help anyone, especially Bumpy! :)
so now i am learning my lessons in patience. Child is a teacher too they say, don't they? even an unborn one! hehe!
good thing is daddy to be is around and its a huge support, mentally! so like one of my pals said after i mentioned my routine these days, "we are back to our dating phase!" Theres no better ay of putting it.
we go out every evening. Marine Drive, Worli Seaface, Bandra, Shivaji Park, movies, favourite restaurants and tke works! and it has been SO MUCH fun! apart from our last couple time for sometime to come, it keeps my mind off needless things! theres so much nostalgia in everything we are doing, that it leaves me with a warm glow and refreshed feeling!
marine drive for the uninitiated is a GORGEOUS promenade by the sea with a concrete slab by the edge where couples canoodle and pals hang out!
health freaks take their walks and run with their Ipods and old people watch the sun go down in sunset of their lives! maids come along with l'il rich kids with their fancy toys and young people in love hold hands and walk from one end to another oblivious to everything around em!
and ofcos there is a gogeous salty sea breeze that blows whipping your hair in a frenzy!!
all in all Bumpy darling, ma-pa are happy reconnecting with all the old stuff, and yet the craving to hold you is getting stronger by the day!
take care and come soooooon!! love ya loads!

first hospital visit!
touchwood, but i have NEVER had to go to a hospital till date!! so i had no idea what a stay in the hospital entails since my longest visit must have been to see my bro for 30mins when he was born!
so when i felt Bumpy move far too less for a coupla days i called my doctor sooner and he asked me to rush to the hospital. so Mayunk and me just went and he asked us to get scan done. by the time we got everything done and came back huffing and puffing to the doctors, my BP shot up. it went as high as 145/100! doc asked me to get admitted and there started my first ever hospital experience!
it was a sad l'il room ith no AC and two beds! anyway i plonked myself on the bed and waited to be checked and medicated! nurses came n went! they forgot to give me lunch! so i survived on apple and marie biscuits! gee!
in the evening i got exciting dal-chawal without any salt! you have to see it to believe it how dull it can be! hehe!! my parents came along in the evening and so did my bro in law and sis in law. friends called and smsed franticaly asking what happened!
imagine the disappointment when i got back home next day without Bumpy!! :p my BP was ok with medics and i am still continuing with em!
Bumpy sweety, we were just kidding about the Leo baccha!! please come sooooon!!!!
love ya loads!! mmmuuuuaaaaaaaaaaahhh!

have days just been getting longer??
i know i sound so repetitive, but i am SO impatient now!! :)
well i had my sonography today (hopefully the last??) and all seems to be well with you Bumpy! The doctor said the weight is around 3.4kgs now and you seem to be all set to come out n check out your new home soon! maybe as early as next week!! will you, my darling??
doc also suggested that if i do go through a normal delivery, i should opt for an epidural which will make giving birth easier! have to talk to my gynac about that whom i see tomorow. i sure hope it one of the last times i am getting on that dreaded weighing scale with fear in my heart everytime i ear it creak under my weight! :(
well i did notice that in 6 weeks i put on 2kgs which isnt so bad! but hey tomorrow is another day!! hehe!
my borther got his US visa to go study MS! am really really happy! he worked hard to get through best univs and my folks worked even harder to get resources in place to make his dream come true! ope you praying too Bumpy that your Mamu rocks at whatever he does! pity you wont get too much time with him. he is pretty good with kids! :)
its been raining quite a bit! everyone is hoping we dont have to wade through water to reach the doc for your birth, my sweetheart Bumpy! well even if we have to, we will manage! am sure you are worth every effort and more!!
come soon baby!!!!!!!!!! thats all i can say!!
love ya loads!

said too soon??
OK! OK! I confess! i did the victory dance over measly 1kg too soon! in two weeks i have put on 2kgs now!
: ( my doc had a field time finally having something to holler about! and now i have given up! officially and totally given up!
ofcos that doesnt mean i am binging and eating too much and all that. but i am not worrying about it anymore. doing my regular routine... around 35mins walking, 7mins - 10mins breathing and around 10mins - 12mins of stretching! :) my ogre doctor apart, i think i am doing ok! :p
Bumpy you have been growing fast me thinks! nowadays you keep wriggling for minutes together creating a mini tsunamiesque feeling in my tummy. ofcourse its all still very plesant and not hurting at all!
hope you comfy and feeling good?? my last scan again said the due date is around 20th Julywith past 3 scans saying 14th July! :( hope to see you sooooon my darling Bumpy! :)
the weather here in Bombay has been horrid with rains being pushed away by a week. Am glad Bumpy doesnt have to sweat it out here. hehe! but they are fast approaching now the monsoons and we should see some respite ASAP! i hope i hope! :)
rest all is well and rocking! hope to make more posts before Bumpy doesn's leave me totally tied up for me to even LOOK at a computer! :)
cheers!

Bumpy ya Wriggly?! :)
well! the dad to be has been complaining about how i am not being regular with the blog etc! what to do? Bumpy is such a calm kid, dont always have something new to talk about! :)
am doing fine! i DID lose 1kg in 3 weeks! and no it doesnt mean i am unwell and doing badly! by now you all are well aware of my doc's obsession with my weight... and he has been telling me to lose 5kgs! gee! ofcos that i think is out of question. yet i felt like doing a victory dance when the weighing scale proclaimed that i had lost 1kg! came out with a HUGE grin! :D
Bumpy has been moving a LOT more! or maybe i have been feeling it more now finally! he is all wriggly!! or maybe its just lack of space which makes every movement of his a new "wriggle" in my tummy.
i could finally make dad to be feel the movement and it spooked him out completely firsyt few times round. and seeing my tshirt jump out with Bumpy's kick was the weirdest of it all. he ofcos soon got used to it and kept feeling my tummy for new movements! :)
rest i feel i have been pregnant forever and eagerly waiting to actually hold you, Bumpy!
hope you enjoying yourself before you open you eyes to this big world! :)
love ya lots!

kickboxing, dancing or wind surfing??
back after a very long hiatus! recently been a part of a girlie yahoo group which seems to take up a lot of my internet time! :)
Bumpy, i have been wondering whether you going to be a sportsperson or a dancer! I can feel your movements quite often now. at times you are kickboxing in my tummy and at times i feel you are slow dancing to a music of your own. Sometimes its like you are creating waves in my tummy! :) whatever it is, i just love feeling every little movement of yours! i wake up looking forward to you waking up and stretching too. you are ofcourse still being as gentle as ever! :)
i am doing good! have been having slight health trouble in terms of cough that leaves me breathless! was wondering if its some kind of infection. got some blood tests done. Doc buddy said reports are normal. the cough is more related to Bumpy getting bigger and pushing my diaphragm up leading to acids going up my throat making it irritable! plus he said i have been leading a horrendous life style! waking up late, walking post lunch, having dinner late and the works. now i have to be out of the bed by 7! take my walk and stretch etc. then have breakfast and go to work!
day one was today and it went off okay! :) hope to continue the good work!
mayunk and me are getting very impatient now. i feel i have been pregnant forever! another 7 weeks to go atleast! looking forward to a happy n healthy full term Bumpy! touchwood!
love ya lots my sweetheart! you keep getting stronger! my tummy will accomodate you happily! :)
mmmmuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!

revenge of the nerds! ;)
After the scary experience in the last check up, i made a weekend trip to Pune! My grand pa is there and hedoesnt travel anywhere much anymore. So i just took the chance to catch up with him as well as my inlaws who are also now settled in Pune.
Ajoba (grand pa) has suddenly aged... I mean he is almost 88 or something, but he used to be a fit man for his age. He still is, but he has gone down mentally. Since Aaji's death few years ago, lack of company makes him all dull and depressed. Not that he used to talk too much even then, but having a presence around is a better than being all alone. I guess its a question with no answer... It was good to spend some time with him, though both of us seemed to be competing about who slept more! :)
My in - laws came to see me too and got a birthday cake and gift to celebrate my birthday a few days in advance. It was nice seeing them again after ages and hope to spend some more time in future! :)
after that i came back to Mumbai and went for the blood tests doc had asked for. had to get my sugar checked after having 50gms of glucose and Thyroid etc. Got the reports and they were totally normal! :)
went to the doc the following day! he seemed a lot more OK once he saw my "normal" reports and that edge of paranoia was off his voice a bit! : ) then i asked him about the exercise bit, he scoffed anda sked if i was used to any?! i said yeah, i can still bend and touch my toes! He asked me totally shocked if i can still do it and that too without bending my knees! i said yes and showed it to him. oh! the espressions on his face were priceless!! i cudnt help but have a wide grin across my face!
he said go ahead and do whatever exercises u were doing, without any jerking kinda motion. The sad part is, i havent done any! :( i have started taking a 30mins manadatory walk at work post lunch. we have this nice shaded area where i can do the rounds and get SOME exercise at least.
having a routine and coming to work everyday etc, definately helps me stay saner, worry lesser and keep more active than what i usually would be. i have been allowed fairly flexi hours and its been quite comfortable.
rest all is well and all that.
Bumpy, i can feel you move l'il more often now. i cant feel some full blown kicks or anything but small ones.. more like wriggling all over. Hehe! you keep movin and shaking! love ya!

scans, scares and smiles
well! i did meet the new doctor! He was an Ogre! almost! My parents prefer calling him honest, if only brutally so! as always, absolutely everything was wrong. My BP shot up (i am sure stress of seeing him), he balked at my sugar level and mentioned I am grossly overweight just about 10 times!
then i told him that i dont feel movement too regularly. he was shocked and said i need to get an anomaly scan (abnormaility scan) done right away! my heart sank. i wondred is that why Bumpy has been so quiet, that i have been having this peaceful pregnancy. he reccoed us to an ultraosound doc and off we went. i was in tears thinking about the worst and the effect of his "honesty"
anywayz after a wait i was on the table and the doc started doing the test. i asked him tentatively "is it moving?" He said leme finish my work then i will show you the baby. I just nodded. It went on for a good half an hour in absolute silence other than the tap tap of his keyboard...
Finally he looked at me and said that all babies have 3 blood vessels in their umbilical cord - 2 arteries and 1 vein. But Bumpy has only one of each. This CAN lead to physical defects. Not always, but at times. I was wondering what next...
He said that if there were any issues, it would show up by now. But Bumpy is perfect! no worries! :) I have never felt so relieved in my life! it was one of the most tense moments of my life!
I felt like hugging the doctor who explained the whole thing so patiently and did his job so thoroughly! Just the way he spoke to me and reassured me made all the difference. God bless his sensitive soul.
Then he showed us (my parents and me) the scan... Bumpy from every angle with all its arm moving and sucking on its thumb and all such! my parents were really kicked and i obviosuly was!
Mayunk wasnt around, but he called me and managed to make me laugh before the scan. Only he can do it for me! :)
Bumpy - you are doing super! i am so so proud of you! :) look forward to seeing you soon! Doc said your growth is already a week advanced! so we might just see you earlier than expected. But theres no rush. You take your own time and get here only when you feel comfy. Its no trouble at all.
love you more each day! :)
hugs and kisses!

of moving cities and changing doctors!
havent posted anything ages! well what to do! Bumpy is being a surprisingly calm kid and there isnt much to say! i THINK i have started feeling a l'il movement, but its far too inconsistent for me to be sure! my backache is also pretty much in control though not always comfortable.
Folks are very excited to have me back home, to have our square complete! I am happy too! But i do miss Mayunk terrible and the thought of beinmg away from him for so long is kind of daunting and pulls me down... i am sure i will be ok soon and get used to it! and ofcos start enjoying my stay fully! :)
now i can relate to my mom who said she always wanted to come back home ASAP from anywhere, even her maika... i used to think what kind of a woman doesnt wnat to spend months at her maika getting pampered! but now that i have had a home of my own that i have come to run and love equally shared by Mayunk, i can understand the sentiment perfectly! :)
then comes the issue of choosing a new doctor! my doctor in bangalore, Dr. Sudha Ramesh is absolutely brilliant! i dont know about her skill levels or fame, but she always make me feel comfortable. she never panics and rather calms me down on rarae occassiona that i may seem to worry! and that i think is a hallmark of a great doctor! now the doc i am supposed to go to, i have met him coupla times earlier when i took second opinion when iw as having trouble conceiving!
he spelt paranoia esp in the first meeting making me feel as if i was ridden by incurable AIDS! and mayunk felt the same way. but after all the research, the final judgement is we should go to him! and both Mayunk and me are VERY apprehensive. Obviosuly! its very difficult to wash off that experience! yet my folks are quite keen that we start afresh, since as a doc he is the best!
then what is best really? someone who is the most accomplished or someone who is good at their work and make you feel good??!!
as a first time pregnancy which has been surprisingly calm inspite of PCOs which bring a host of issues with them, i guess everyone is wondering if it will be equally quiet during later stages also... and if it isnt gonna be by any god forsaken chance, they want the mosyt skilled doctor to take care of me, civility be damned!!
i am still battlinmg with my apprehensions of seeing him! and the fact that M feels the same way makes it double difficult! what i have now decided is to meet him once in any case. If i get similar jitters, i will insist on someone else who doesnt make me panic unnecessarily!
Bumpy, sweeatheart, i still cant feel you move much! that kinda worries me at times. Hope you are doing good and enjoying your stay! pray that the new doc doesnt continue to be the ogre he has been in our past experience! :p
Love ya lots n pots!

its a monkey... its an alien... no its Bumpy!!
it was time for the monthly check up. thankfully the dad-to-be was also there this time! i was hoping that she would do a scan so that mayunk can see Bumpy too! :)
and she did too! i asked Doc if mayunk cud watch, and she said ofcos yes! as the screen lit up slowly Bumpy started taking shape. ofcos without doctor's guiding stick we couldnt really make out much! :)
she started pointing at different parts. The head and the eyeballs followed by its Spinal Cord! it was eerie to see an almost transparent Bumpy with its heartbeat showing and even some gas! ;)
Bumpy was quite shaant for sometime and suddenly we started seeing movements! kicking its legs and moving its hands above its head! (i wish i knew the gender so that i stopped calling poor Bumpy "it"!)
i am still not feeling any movements! the doc said i should latest in next coupla weeks!
my weight shot up far too much even for my chilled out doc's liking! :( guess i went overboard on eating out and eating out with cheesy stuff thinking ab toh badhna hai weight toh dil khol ke khaao! BIG mistake!
am sure to be more sensible now! less of fatty stuff and rice which i have been gorging on last month to satisfy my hunger pangs!
Bumpy you getting bigger by the day i guess! Your dad was amazed how in the world a human being can be comfy in such a small space??!!
But that how nature has intended it to be! Hope you enjoying your stay! yesterdays scan makes me want to see you and hold you so much more!
i have been imagining if you are a girl or a boy, what would you look like, would you recognise us once you are out?! hehe!
stay safe and see you soon!! :)
we love you some more each day! BIG Hugs!

state trasnpsort buses and roadside chaat!!
actually my doc kinda just depended on my reading of the HPT and then took scan and confirmed pregnancy! no blood test etc. She said do you have to go for the vacation??!! i was like yeah! i mean we have been planning this for 3 months! gee!
but ofcos, if she had insisted we would have cancelled the trip! she didnt and off we were! :) she very sweetly told me that 40% pregnancies tend to get terminated in first 3 months and theres not much one can do about it other than basic precautions. i just nodded and got back to packing.
i was kinda scared but my fears were put to complete rest by rachna chachi who said, if your body rejects something, it usually means its not good for it! so dont worry!
after that therew as no looking back. we were on a whirlwind trip! and tho it sounds weird, we hardly slept on the same beds two nights in a row. Lucknow with its awesome chat and thick malaidar lassi was first indulgence. The only other precaution taken was drinking mineral water if outside homes. there was ofcos chat in delhi before that at IITF at pragati maidan of all places! we travelled bewteen few cities by state transport buses, hogged on special puri subzi off ambala streets and the works.
thankfully total lack of morning sickness or giddyness etc kept me all OK other than fatigue. Then ofcos came the part of hiding from people. Since first 3 months are so delicate and unpredictable and we werent excatly lying low, even closest friends and relatives couldnt be told! i am sure they wondered why i would go and lie down suddenly or whyw as mayunk hovering over me all the time asking me if i was doing ok?! :)
i think we managed to keep it to ourselves pretty well. Ofcos you cannot a fool a really old and experienced eye. Mayunk's naani asked him on 2nd day of our stay in lucknow itself - "sirf sardi zukaam hai, yaa aur bhi kuch?" hehe!
she being the reason of our trip (i had never met her and she couldnt make it to the wedding), we didnt have the heart to lie to her. she was overjoyed and gave her blessing which i am sure kept Bumpy safe through all our travel travails.
i sure hope you are strong kid Bumpy who will enjoy an iced gola from chowpatty as much as the fancy ice cream from Baskin and Robbins and not fall ill 'coz it wasnt mineral water! ;)
Bumpy, i think i can feel yout chhotaa chhotaa movements now, tho not full blown kicking as yet! you be gentle to your mom, OK??
Love ya lots! :)

but the second line is showing!!!
Hubby n me were just chatting kal n realised that since i had kinda started the blog late, first few days never got captured! so decided to do a bit of flashback to recap those moments. I dont think anyone of us can forget THE moment ever!
I was undergoing treatment for my PCO's and had ovulation induced. The doc said if you will either get your period next month or you will be pregnant! Since the treatment can take time to have effect, we werent really expecting anything! But i guess marriage anniversaries turn out to be lucky! ;)

By next month i was anxious anyway. Then i missed my period! I went to the doc. She was very vague n evasive and i was supposed to leave for 15day long vacation up north in another 2 days! I dunno why, but iw anted to check. I went ahead and bought a Home Pregnancy Tester called Velocit, which i had used quite a few times before with no luck ofcos.
I took the test as prescribed and with my heart beating faster than ever, i saw the results... It showed a second line which meant POSITIVE! i couldnt believe it!! i went out and showed to Mayunk! He said aise kaise ho sakta hai?? aur doctor ne bhi kuch nahi kahan! i said "But the second line IS showing!!"Mayunk goes "But its so faint"
we try not to be TOO elated lest the test is wrong! I go to the doc... happy and apprehensive at the same time! somewhere my intution was telling me i am right!
the doc confirmed my pregnancy and was thrilled! :) mayunk was SUPER kicked too! and then so were our parents! :)
Bumpy, the fact that you were being formed was the most amazing moment of our lives! now counting days to see you...
more of flashbacks later!
mujhe neend naa aaye!
considering i am NOT a Madhuri Dixit fan, its amazing how i end up using her songs!
It happened twice in two weeks! i have woken up at unearthly hour of around 330am and not been able to sleep after that! I keep tossing and turning. I wake hubby up! He tries to pat etc and put me to sleep. The only problem with that is that he sleeps off n starts snoring within 2mins of starting the process! Cant blame him. But it pisses me off even more!
I try getting up and reading! watching TV! breathe more deeply and count sheeps n zebras and zebra's stripes too! to no avail ofcos! :(
people say its a common side effect of pregnancy! and this is before i have even started feeling the kicks etc. Whats next??
This has been the only trouble in what till now has been a peaceful 4 months! :)
Like a buddy said, i would be ready to sell my soul for a bit of sleep once Bumpy is born.
Bumpy wont you try to be a NICE kid and let your mom sleep??
Least you can do is insist on Dad putting you to sleep, eh Bumpy??!! ;)
Both os us and whole lot of other people already love you lots n pots! Keep growing and rocking!
mmmuuuuaaaaaahhhhhh!

dhak dhak karne laga
It was time for my monthly check up today! Everything has been smooth and THAT sometimes makes you worry more. I was in quite a similar state of mind.
After usual wait, the nurse who hates me (her story for another day!) called me pretty much sonner than all times before. Doc asks me how i have been doing and i say just fine! I lie down expecting another scan. A chance to see Bumpy move again. But this time she just put this device which would let me hear Bumpy's heartbeat! The Doc said "Excellent! Perfect heartbeat!" And i smiled listening to the dhak dhak with the sounds of water as background.
I could hear whoosh whoosh of water interspersed with Bumpy's heart beating in natural rhythm. It was a wonderful experience!! :)
Apart from that my Blood Pressure is finally OK! The lower BP had been going kinda high upto 93! Doc had told me to reduce salt and spices too. I guess carrying home food everyday along with loads of fruits etc has made it okie. Today it was 120/80. Touchwood.
You keep going strong Bumpy! Love you lots!

i dont wanna wear a bedsheet!
my girth was never the smaller variety! i had been putting on weight even when i was not pregnant. I was relegated to using just one pair of jeans and salwaar kameezes! Soon the solitary pair of jeans also stopped fitting me. The only option was aunty clothes.
i kept pestering mayunk about how i want maternity jeans. The miraculous creation hat promised to strech as wide as you would go and let you look hep n hot right to your roundest phase. But we never ended up doing it and i was just ironing my kurtas everyday. I was told that Studio Mom in koramangala, Bangalore is where you get em. None of the bigger departmental stores were stocking any kind of maternity clothes which was quite weird.
Finally Hubby dearest traveled to a far away land. When he got back, i laid my eyes on a lovely pair of denims and trousers that would happily strech to waist size 43! (i do hope i wont need THAT MUCH!;)
Now i am wearing a hot pair of denims with bright kurtis and oversized shirts and feeling so much better!! : ) who says fat n pregnant ladies should look dowdy in boring clothes??
So ladies, go splurge some money on yourself and look n feel as beautiful and smart as ever without losing the comfort level!! :)
Next in line, when time comes, are those cute n short l'il maternity frocks!
Bumpy, hope you comfy in the new pair of jeans??!! :)
love you lots!
its all relative! :)
been quite a few days since i posted something! Not much happening i guess! Bumpy is doing ok and am looking forward to seeig him/her move during my scan end of this month. The dad might miss it agaiin. But then theres quite a few scans to go! And we are hoping we will see a happy n dancing kiddo in all of em! Amen! :)
i am someone who doesnt mind being alone. I do not get lonely just 'coz i dont have company. I have office, i go home, cook, watch all the movies hubby has watched or doesnt want to, read some and sleep.
So when i got a call yesterday from one of my uncles that they were in bangalore and that his mom wanted to visit me, i went ah no! There gos my relaxed evening doing nothing! His mom is my Dad's aunt, my grandpa's younger sister well into her sixties! So like my cousin grandmom!
Plus, with no Mayunk to supervise, the house has been pig sty i feel most comfy in. Papers strewn around, chaddar neva folded, clothes lying on every empty surafce (you get the picture!). When someone old is coming, you know they look at all these things pretty closely AND god forbid "critically". So i said i will be home by 730, you can come after that. Ofcos, she was staying miles apart, so my uncle dropped her at my office! this meant i HAD to sheepishly say "welcome home!' to that messy looking space. Ofcos she was very sweet and said you are working, and that too long hours, so its OK. Dont worry.
We reached home. Soon we were just sitting and talking comfortably about this and that. Family stuff and how age has changed things for her. Then we started seeing photos, our shaadi album, and she heard all my stories with lot of interest. Adding her own anectodes and opinions to them. Asking questions and answering mine.
Cooking time, and i made simple baingan bharta and dal. She ofcos offered to cook the whole meal saying when will you get ready khaana. (Mayunk, i miss you!!;) I jus asked her to make rotis, that i am terrible at and we had a simple dinner with some more chatting. She made it a point to praise my cooking! :)
on the bed too, she told me about her singapore-mal-bkk-pty-colombo trip. She even did paragliding!! How cool is that?!
The funniest incident shared was when she, the other 2 sisters and my grandpa were going to one of brother's place (they are 9 of em in all, grandpa being the oldest!) and went to the autorickshaw stand to ask them if they would go. The driver asked em "where do you want to go?' And not ONE of them could remember the NAME of the place. All saying they are older than the rest and how can they be expected to remember. They told him we know the way, you start moving and we will tell you once we remember! :)
All in all, the visit i was dreading turnd out to be quite an enjoyable one! She was genuinely happy to see us doing well and that she could spend at least an evening at our place.
You cant choose your relatives, but sometimes you are glad you dont have the choice! :)

information overload!
Internet, the boon of our times! I cannot imagine life before Google happened. Anything you want, ask and tho shalt find. Then ofcourse with so much information available it was a task in itself to find what you REALLY NEEDED. Correct keywords was the only answer and yet not fool proof!
I remember when i was diagnosed with PCOs (Polycystic Ovaries) which essentially means, as the name suggests, have cyst on your ovary/ies. We read up on the internet nd it came up with results that spoke about PCOs causing every illness from diabetes to cancer. Ofcourse infertility being another of side-effects since your menstural cycle goes for a toss and in my case, i could not ovulate regularly.
Only whn you meet the doctor and he/she does tests and then you know how serious is your own condition. Today medication can make almost any condition okay. I too took some medication and was able to concieve.
Now that Bumpy is here, ypu wonder what next? You rad again. They say women with PCOs have 50% chance of miscarriage. You get worried sick again. You go to your doc on next visit and ask almost in tears. She says "All of us ave 50% chance. Dont worry!" You go back smiling.
First trimester over and you are reading up website about pregnancy and its preparation and progress. Again you come across, you can screw up even in 2nd trimester which is supposed to be easiest. Its like a never ending story...
Reading up on Internet about all these things is great, but dont fret too much about everything you read. If you think you have any symptoms mentioned or have any serious doubts, just make sure you note them down and ask the doctor next time. No use getting paranoid about things that are not really your area of expertise.
Bumpy, dont be Abhimanyu, and learn something just half way through!! There is a lot to learn slowly as and how time comes!

hunger pangs!
i guess Bumpy is getting bigger! i dont feel the weight as yet etc, but i am maddeningly hungry ALL the time! i am trying not to live by adage "You are eating for 2 people" 'coz all sensible people have told me, this just isnt true! :) its just not advisable to load yourself with ghee and works and put on cartloads of unhealthy weight, especially when you are overweight in the first place!
So here i am still not ready to believe that i get SO hungry! I am still trying to eat normally (obvious but stunning increase in appetite) and eat more of fruits than anything else! But how many fruits can one have?? Have been taking advice from more "experienced" people. Murmura (sukha bhel), sprouts, biscuits have come up as possible solutions. Lets see how it goes. I should call my doc and ask her anyway. I eat and then i am more hungry!
kya khaaye kya naa khaayen, yeh kaisi mushil, haye! :)
Bumpy, whatever i am eating, I hope its okie for you! Enjoy your stay sweetheart! :)

kuch kuch hota hai!
today is one of those days... you dont feel like doing anything. A sense of doom, albiet temporary, has cast its gloomy spell on me. I guess it has to be with hubby travelling a bit! I will be okie soon! actually i am already feeling betta!
i am sick of eating fruits! Today for a change i ate santra in the morning and will eat apple in the evening instead of other way round everyday. Thankfully the santra was sweet! Small mercies! hehe!
i puked yesterday! first time in 4 months of pregnancy! and it had nothing to do with it! just overate on paneer bhurji during dinner time. i wonder how women manage puking like 10times a day. they cant bear the smell of food even. my sis once puked seeing a picture of pav bhaji! gee! and to go to work in that, if you have et all. life cant be easy once you take this decision.
Maybe it doesnt get as happy either. Hope we make your stay worthwhile, Bumpy! :)

raise a stink!
i keep wondering how difficult it is to toilet train kids? Wonder if Bumpy will be a quick learner! The thought of cleaning "dirty" clothes kind of dampens my maternal instinct! We used to talk about getting a readymade potty trained child!! ;)
And then you also wonder how do people manage to unlearn this training!! My office has a unisex loo (just one person can go at a time!). More often that not i find the seat wet, tissues strewn around and worse flush not being used effectively! AAARRGGHHHH!
i mean what is it that stops people from practising basic cleanliness and loo etiquette?? Is it really that difficult?? I had just about enough of it and have been wanting to put up some kinda notice to all those guys who just dont seem to care.
I came up with an extremely caustic + sarcastic kind which Mayunk trashed and made some sensible changes so that it sounds official, yet not insulting! Helped me find coupla cartoons that didnt make it rude and it was set! jus pasting the same thing here. maybe it could be useful in your office too??!! ;)
NEW YEAR RESOLUTION - PISSING WITHOUT PISSING OTHERS OFF
PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THE FOLLOWING THINGS PEOPLE
1) GUYS if you have to pee please put the toilet seat up.
2) If you do not / cannot follow point number one, do not leave the Toilet Seat WET!!!!!!!!
3) Please use tissue or toilet paper in the loo to dry the seat if it’s wet after use.
4) Flushing is mandatory till everything gets flushed
5) Please throw used tissues and toilet paper in basket.
6) If you see the loo dirty, tell the housekeeping guy!
Bumpy, i hope you will be toilet trained for good!!! and quickly!! Amen!!

gaadi chalti rahe
i got behind the steering wheel again after wasted attempts over 3 months ago. I did the classes with a 70yrs instructor who used to hit me with a scale everytime i made a mistake. As long as he didnt wear leather...
then i started practising with my husband. He is VERY patient, but then you know how it is, I cant say anything to whipping instructor even when he hits me, but pati going just one level above in volume, tears would start dropping clouding my vision and further deteriorating my already weak concentration levels.
And then ofcos temperamental differences come in the picture! I am mad risk taker getting cheap thrills out of sharp turns, hubby is more sensible and safe driver. So, i would drive saying "But when i really drive, i cant drive like this naah, all safe n careful!". And he would go "Par meri Maa, you should atleast know how to!!"
Today was tad better. I cried ONLY once and car stopped just a coupla times. I dont know why i get into a frowny state everytime i am learning. Guess the fact that it takes so long kinda irritates me to no end. The fact that its not just dependent on the way you drive, but on thousand other morons on two and in 3 and 4 wheelers with whom you have to share the road. AAArrgghhh!!
I have been having my usual doubts about Bumpy's existence! Mayunk kept telling me that i have to stop being stupid! He can see me look fatter everyday. I guess this is the only time he can say it without risking my wrath or tears. Hehe! "You are getting fatter" puts a smile on my face! :)
Had a terrible backache yesterday and to think that its just the beginning. I cant stand for too long at a time or walk too much, tho my doc said after 14 weeks i could go for short walks as exercise. Right now getting out of razai for something as dull as walking isnt a great idea for me! But getting those kilos off will be so tough later!
i will worry about it later too!! ;)
Bumpy - love you lots! :)

its a "bumpy" ride!
i asked daddy to be "is it showing now, the bump?". from there somehwere now our baby to be is called Bumpy, very fondly and affectionately! :)
Bumpy, i think is doing just fine! i am trying to eat and live healthy. Actually eating 2 fruits in a day, the earlier average being once in 2 months. Take a lot of rest. Not eat out too often. And an assorted to do's and not to do's.
The only trouble Bumpy might be experincing would be bumpy roads in Bangalore. I have been taking call taxis (Cel Cabs) everyday 'coz doc has ruled out autos and my dear ol' two wheeler Dio! They can be quite a pain these taxis! I have been calling em almost for past 2 months, yet almost everytime there is a new driver! And finding our house is a herculean task for most. I keep teling the call centre guys, i need a driver who understands either Hindi or English, least as couple of words stringed types.
But to no avail. Just today he calls t 845 and says he will be there at 915, the time i have called the cab! doesnt ask for any directions, so stupid me, i assume he is a repeat guy n knows the ghar. Then he calls at 910 ASKING for directions! Inspite of giving them, he reaches same vague place which is landmark in their database!!!! (arre then why do u call n take directions???) Gee!
anyway we reach the point where he is waiting, and by then i am half n hour late and very upset. I try to calm myself down for Bumpy's sake! The weird habit these guys have is they say OK to everything you say. If you tell them two opp directions in the same breath, they will STILL say OK! And you will never know what they have understood. Its a peculairity of local cabbies n even bank sales guys here!
still remember an occassion where one of our cousins was calling a guy from a big bank. He says "Are you coming fromDiamond District side or Martahalli side?"
The bank guy "OK, sir."
He says "What ok? Which side are you coming from?"
"OK Sir." (DUH!!!)
Finally he reaches IBM office and calls "Saar, I have reached your office."
Cousin is a doctor who DOESNT work with IBM. Kya funda hai, pata nahi!
Now how does one explain the meaning of OK?? Gee!
Maybe things will be betta by the time you are here Bumpy, OK??!! :)
