the darker side of desire...

Oh well! The secret had to come out sometime... like most secrets do! As hard as we try to control our desires and kill that basic instinct, it brings up its deliciously sinful head up every now and then and you have no choice but to give in... Time to come out of the closet and tell the world!

Dark Chocolate!!! My biggest weakness... the chink in my armour! ( Had you women started whispering"She didn't seem that kind, no?!;).

I don't remember when this love started, but it has grown with my size (sigh!) . I guess the only dark chocolate made in India earlier was Amul in its dark brown pack. Then came Bournville from Cadbury's. As luck would have it, my mausi shifted abroad and every time they came to India, came a pack of Club dark chocolate. I would ignore the hazelnuts and coconut flavoured chocos and just shower all my love on Club. We would eat (dad and bro are fans too!) one piece a day to make the pleasure last longer.

By then Mocha had opened in Mumbai and my pal took me there to experience the Chocolate Avalanche! Imagine a big bowl filled with chocolate mousse, brownies, ice cream, chunks of chocolate and topped up with the rich, brown sauce! Gluttony has always been my biggest sin. It followed with trip to try other stuff there like the Vertigo, a layered dark chocolate cake that would make you head spin or the Lindt Shake! Oooooh!

We got married and M changed jobs. It involved LOT of travelling. Imagine poor M's haalat when at every duty free shop he had to scour for dark chocolates, resolutely ignoring other interesting looking stuff. From Hershey's dark which isn't all that dark to Guiyame or some such who made 75% dark squares of pure fantasy! From one which had liquor filled centres to the ones with tangy orange flavour to them, each one fueling my obsession just a little more.

Last time M bought some really interesting ones which had a dash of pepper and other spices. Imagine the flavours you taste one by one as the chocolate melts in your mouth. First its the rich chocolate - l'il sweet, more bitter and then suddenly spice that surprises your taste buds thinking spicy chocolates! Absolute bliss. I would have never imagined lemon and chocolate going together and creating a sensational taste! Ghiradelli makes such yummy squares and I share them only with the closest!

I have long given up on Hershey's and Dairy Milks of the world. I won't touch a 5star with a foot long pole. Basically I don't bother with sweet, milk chocolates! After discovering the sinfully sensuous and so to say darker side, I just can't come back to the sweet side.

M will be back on Sunday and I am already rubbing my hands in anticipation wondering what pleasures are yet to be experienced?
