i so so wish...

It was gorgeously cuddly Bangalore weather at it's best today! After two months of crazy heat inspite of the thunder showers, where mornings would be hot again, today had just the beginnings of a pleasant chill!

Kabir also woke up a little later later than usual and didn't get up and start moving as soon as he woke up the way he does everyday. After a long time, we spent time just cuddling and being one happy family under daddy o's chaddar.

Instead of making naashta at home, we decided to go walk down to near by Darshini to have idli-dosa for breakfast. Kabir just LOVES idli and it's a weekend ritual to eat out one of the days. So instead of weekend, i cajoled M to go today instead.

Hot dosas and soft idlis seemed so perfect as we sat under a tree on rickety plastic stools and ate while feeding the Cub. He was lot more alert watching traffic pass by, dogs loitering around, fruit and vegetable carts and people walking around. He had one whole idli with sambar and gobbled it up as if we had kept him hungry for two days! :) All this was washed down with hot cuppa of strong filter coffee and morning was off to perfect start.

After getting home I kept wondering if my maid would come today since its her granddaughter's birthday! happy 2nd birthday to you Aishu! :) In heart of my hearts I kept hoping she doesn't turn up. But diligent Rajamma was there at her usual time. I told M (who is working from home today) that I so DON'T want to go to work today. I just needed one little push from him saying "Dekhlo!"

But alas! Sensible M told me you know how Friday bunking always looks suspicious even when you HAVE a valid reason?! And how you anyway need to take emergency chuttis when Amma doesnt turn up and all that. :(

I was convinced and here i am sitting in office and doing my duty by being a good and honest employee!

It's just that sometimes it irriates me to no end that our work takes so much precedence over life, that we find it difficult to just take a break, sit back and relax for no reason whatsoever! We are always worried some time in future when we will NEED these chhuttis and what would we do then? We miss weddings and other occassions in the family because "chhutti nahi milti!"

I am not saying we should be irresponsible employees and keep doing the disappearing act on a whim, but should we feel so tied to our jobs that getting away even for a few days is a big and painful process??

Some companies have concept of Mandatory Leave (affectionaly called Mandy) where you HAVE to take 15 days of paid leave compulsory. The intention for the company is to check our work and computer while you are away, but hey it gives YOU a clean break!

Sometimes i think its unfair one needs to work to earn his living and cant just live like a free spirit all the time!

Ridiculous thought I know, but I just so wanted to stay at home today! :D

Next time i feel like it, I will just bunk! Once at least! :)

Bunking from work is probably a lot harder than college. But if you have less work & have some PTO's, then why not decide to take a day off one of in the coming weeks, especially during summer? Then, take the kids to the park, & enjoy the day - no plans just have FUN! :)

I did once and it was great bonding with the little guy - plan to do a few more this summer! Good luck!

I think you are suffering from just-back-from-vacation syndrome! :P
Just kidding! I can understand. I too keep having these bouts of not-wanting-to-come-to-office.
