and no it is not Bub's milestone! The lazy bum has only just turned on her side and has learnt to exercise her vocal chords the moment she is left alone in the room! Sigh! She is also dazzling us with her smiles and thinks she can get away with murder with those. Oh Well! She actually can if she wants! :)
This post is for Cub. We have treated Cub's past 2 years at school with complete nonchalance. The intention was for him to have fun, learn to interact with other kids and if he manages to get some education while at it, that was just a bonus!
That also means we have never done any "homework" with him or actively taught him anything. So imagine our surprise when we saw him do this!
Look ma! I can write! :)
We told him the spelling a few times, but now he can write it on his own by memory. And we have never ever practiced writing with him etc. So its all school and his effort. Few times he would come and ask how to write a particular alphabet and we would hold his hand and write it once or twice. So we are super proud! :)
Thats an elephant!
One end is trunk and another is tail! Dont ask which one is which! ;)
Now that is a recognizable flower! :)
Shhh! Do not disturb! Am on a con-call.
Yes, he does as many con-calls as his papa. And does it quite sincerely too with his kingfisher headphones and going tippity tap on his toy laptop keyboard! :)
He has also been going Smart Alec-y on us every now and then and I wish i had noted down the stuff he keeps coming up with.
Just coupla days ago, he had a severe case of loosies. Next day he wanted to go out with his Papa. M told him what if you do potty on the road. Cub shot back with "I am a cow or a dog or what?!" Errrr... sorry!
M got him this cute superman tee with a cape n all. He wore it the other day and M told him why don't you fly us to such and such place instead of going by car. He retorts "Papa, maine sirf superman ke kapde pehene hai! I am not asli superman!" and gave him a look! Errr... sorry again!
He is all grown up now and is equally painful and delightful in turns! He still refuses to say his Thank You and Please. He whines like it is going out of fashion and cries for most annoying things. But on the whole he is still a very nice kid! :p He has a vivid imagination and can keep himself occupied with his cars and animals and making up stories around them for hours sometimes. He thrives on positive responses and is yet to learn how to accept a No with grace. But then he is just 3 and a 1/2 years old! I tend to forget that most of the times! :D
Among other news, I have quit working after 11 long years (last 5 of those at one place) and i really hope i enjoy this stint as a SAHM considering i never saw myself as one! :) So wish me luck!
And how have you folks been? Waiting for the big match on Wednesday?! And what plans during school vacays?
Stay cool and happy! :)
Cheers!
ps: Thank you Tanay and Shweta for that gift! The magnetic slate. I have not seen any other gift used as much! :)

Congrats on cub and bub! LIke the way u write!
Very Good!!! You have learnt the act of letting go!!! That gives children some space to experiment and later on be leader on their own when they grow up!!!
Constant pushing may yield results initially but will fail eventually. Keep doing the great job of parenting you both are doing!!!!
Wow.. Cubby is one smart chap! At times, I feel he is almost in a race with Pari. I mean Pari also wrote her name and drew a very similar flower just last month :) I can happily remember her milestones through your posts :P The superman thingie was really clever :)
Wow ..Cub has grown so much! Here after a long time and enjoyed knowing abt whats up with Cub and Bub!
